Coordinating transport is better

Why co-ordinating 2 forms of transport is better than planning them individually. For example, One form of transport is a high-speed train and the other is a inner city train. If there is no planning the inner-city train will miss the opportunities to catch potential passengers from the high-speed network. When a passenger departs from the high-speed train it is unlikely to be their final destination. Doesn’t matter whether they must drive, cycle or even walk, it is highly likely that they will have to do some further travelling. If having 2 forms of transport that are planned together, each form can capture passengers from the other more effectively. Each form can ease pressure on the other more effectively. Each form can unlock new areas and more passengers more effectively. Without this coordination, systems deliver passengers to areas not covered by both forms of transport, so the transport passengers are left stranded, often taking longer times to reach their destinations
